Departure Dates: This Cooktown tour departs on a Monday or Thursday  from Cairns, Cairns Beaches or Port Douglas hotels. Extra departures might be available in August. Departure and return times are below. The minimum number of people per trip required for the trip to run is 4. The maximum number is 16.

Departs: 7am from Cairns, 7.30am from Cairns beaches, 8.30am from Port Douglas. Returns: Next day at 8.30pm to Port Douglas, 9pm to Cairns beaches and 9.30pm to Cairns.

A 20% deposit is required to secure your booking. The balance is payable o7 days prior to travel. There is a fuel levy charge of  $20 per adult included in the ticket price.

More Information: Standard accommodation is based upon the approximate rating of a three star room with ensuite and the deluxe accommodation is based upon the approximate rating of a four star room with ensuite.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1 on your Cairns to Cooktown tour will see you travel in a 4WD  north along one of Australia’s most scenic coastal routes towards the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation. You will cross the Daintree River by cable Ferry drive spectacular rainforest.  As the 4WD tour continues towards Cooktown the 4WD vehicle will access the "Bloomfield Track". The Bloomfield Track will take you through some of the most rugged terrain in QLD, crossing rivers containing estuarine crocodiles and climb mountain ranges with views of the Great Barrier Reef. Enroute stop for lunch at the acclaimed Lion's Den Hotel, which dates back to 1875. After lunch your day tour continues on to the unique geological oddity, which is Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Late in the afternoon your 4WD tour arrives in Cooktown where you will have a brief tour of Grassy Hill lookout before being taken to your Cooktown accommodation.

Day 2 gives you free time until around 3pm in Cooktown where you can walk where Captain Cook walked and touch the sand where "Endeavour" was beached. Take some time to visit the James Cook Museum and wander along the main street of Cooktown.  

Optional tour GUURRBI TOURS-Rainbow Serpent Rock Art Tour 7.45am – 1.15pm ($120p.p. book now or book later)

An early start today as you will be collected from your accommodation by Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon for a half day Rainbow Serpent Tour.  Willie has a great smile, an infectious laugh and will be taking you to visit the rock art sites on his traditional country outside Hope Vale Aboriginal Community. The Rainbow Serpent Tour takes you through a dramatic landscape to six rock art sites, including an Ancestral Birth Cave and the Reconciliation Cave.  Wear comfortable walking shoes today as you’ll be walking through Willie’s country.  After returning to Cooktown you are free to enjoy the reminder of the day at your leisure. 

Visit the World Class James Cook Museum or stroll along the shores of the Endeavour River.  The main street has a charm and historical atmosphere, which still prevails.  You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area, which remains much the same as when Captain Cook knew it in 1770.  This afternoon depart Cooktown via the inland road, The Mulligan Highway, travelling through a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Gold mine region, which is the Outback of Far North Queensland.  Return to your chosen accommodation early evening. 

If you choose to fly back to Cairns you have an extra few hours to see Cooktown and the flight departs Cooktown at 6pm and flies via the coastline, arriving at 6.50pm to Cairns. This flight has to be pre-booked and is subject to availability. Hotel transfers on arrival at Cairns General Aviation Airport are NOT included, please make your own way to your accommodation. Taxis are available on arrival.
