More Information: This dive course is similar to a 5 day course but you can do away with the first two days of classrooms and swimming pools, and be certified in just 3 days… After receiving a study guide and theory book a few days before the trip begins, you will be asked to sit an exam, and then you will learn by practical experience under the watchful eye of your instructor with a maximum of only three other students. This ensures your dive course is more personalised, safer, more fun andthere can be more attention to details.
Procedure:
When you arrive in Cairns you pick up a study guide and theory book .... It’s the individuals choice how long they want to spend reading over the study material, we suggest a few days. The 3 day / 2 night dive aspect of the course, must be booked at the time of making a reservation. Ideally you should have completed chapters 1-4 prior to arriving onboard Reef Encounter - the questions are quite simple. * The theory is fun and easy to learn, you won’t have to spend days grinding away to pass the exam.
You can sit the theory exam prior to boarding the boat or you can do the theory and exam on board the boat…. You will however need to complete a dive medical exam before boarding the boat which costs around $50. This can be done in Cairns at the 24 Hour Medical Centre. (24 hours a day - no appointment necessary).
Here’s a rough itinerary:
* Pass a Dive Medical Prior to departure (these can be obtained at the 24 hour Medical Centre – Cnr of Florence & Grafton Streets, and are at the customers own expense and pick up the study guide and theory book a few days prior to your dive adventure.
Sit the theory exam either before on when you get on board the Reef Encounter.
