Itinerary:

Day 1 - Adelaide to Grampians National Park

DEFAULT PICK UP: Adelaide Central YHA (135 Waymouth St), 07:00am

Our journey takes us through the Adelaide Hills across the mighty Murray River before travelling past the Victorian border and on through Horsham. We make our way into the Grampians National Park, a beautiful area and a place of great significance for the local Indigenous people. We gain a good insight into their local customs with a stop at the Brambuck Cultural Centre. We then make the most of our afternoon to explore the region with a hike to either McKenzie or Silverband Falls. We then enjoy a short nature walk to take in the full beauty of the Grampians.  Enjoy dinner with your new friends before we overnight in Halls Gap. (D)

Day 2 - Grampians National Park via Great Ocean Road to Melbourne

After an early start this morning we make our way to the Australian National Heritage listed and world-renowned Great Ocean Road. Enjoy the fantastic coastal views from the road. We explore Port Campbell National Park including a visit to London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge and the iconic Twelve Apostles rock formation. We pass through the beach towns of Apollo Bayand Lorne before a short stop at Kennett Riverto do some koala spotting. From here we take on that last part of the Great Ocean Road. Make the most of a great photo opportunity at the famed Aussie surf location before we make our final journey into cosmopolitan Melbourne. (B)

Where will I sleep?

Includes either 1 night dorm accommodation with
share facilities, OR 1 nights twin, double, single or triple
budget ensuite accommodation.

What to bring:
Sturdy walking shoes (preferably ankle high), hat and sunscreen, towel and toiletries, swimming gear, warm clothing, water bottle, torch, insect repellant, camera, travel pillow, money for optional snacks you might want to buy and/or meals not included on the specific tour you might be doing.

How much luggage can I bring?

The vehicle has limited space so please keep your luggage to a maximum of 15 kgs in a backpack or soft overnight bag with a small day pack for easy access to camera, film, sunblock etc.

Do I have to participate?

Part of the enjoyment of our tours is bonding with a group of like-minded adventurers so we make them active and hands on. Passengers are expected to help with the preparation of food, washing of dishes and general assistance to the guide as directed.
How fit do I have to be?

Our tours are active so a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability is needed. If you enjoy hiking through gorges, swimming in waterfalls and directly experiencing the environment then our tours are perfect for you. If you have any doubts about your suitability for our tours, accommodation type and vehicles on each itinerary page and consider if you have selected the right tour for you or please check with our Reservations Department before making a booking.

What do I eat?

Our emphasis is on fresh food wherever possible and our meals are nutritious and varied. If you are vegetarian or gluten intolerant we can cater for you, but if you have very specific dietary needs you may need to provide your own food, please discuss this at time of booking. For breakfast we supply cereals, toast, tea and coffee. Lunch is usually a self-serve sandwich and salads; in the evening we have a cooked dinner. We always carry water in the vehicle and you will often have the chance to buy your own drinks, ice-creams etc at stops.

Follow the Great Ocean Road as you travel out of Melbourne visiting the many icons along the way including the Twelve Apostles. Head inland to the Grampians National Park where you will do a number of walks before reaching Adelaide. Tour is fully accommodated for comfort and all weather travel.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Melbourne via Great Ocean Road to Princetown

Our trip begins as we leave Melbourne and head through Geelong towards the coast to Torquay, with a stop to shop at Quiksilver and Rip Curl before we continue to world famous Bells Beach. Our Great Ocean Road journey begins here as we wind our way along one of the most spectacular coastal roads in Australia.
We stop to see some koalas before passing through the seaside town of Lorne on our way to Apollo Bay, where we’ll stop for lunch (own expense). Next we hit the cool temperate rainforest of the Otway National Park, spending some time at the magnificent Otway Fly, 25 metre high elevated tree top walk. We cap off the day watching the sun set over the Twelve Apostles. We’ll stay overnight in the coastal township of Princetown. (D)

Day 2: Princetown to Grampians National Park

Start the day with an optional helicopter ride over the amazing 12 Apostles or walk down the Gibson Steps to the beach to get a different angle of the limestone stacks. Next we head on to check out Loch Ard Gorge and the western end of the Great Ocean Road including London Bridge, the Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands. You may spot a whale or two (seasonal) at Warrnambool, where we have a stop. From here we travel through country Victoria, arriving at the magnificent Grampians National Park to the challenge of a hike to the top of the Pinnacle. The day is topped off by a walk to The Balconies and Reeds Lookout, before we get to our overnight Grampians accommodation. (BD)

Day 3: Grampians National Park to Adelaide

Get your legs working this morning with hikes at Hollow Mountain and the amazing MacKenzie Falls, where you’ll experience the breathtaking views stretching over the north of the Grampians. Leaving this magical place, we travel west, stopping for lunch at Horsham (own expense) before continuing through the agricultural region of Victoria and in to South Australia. Bordertown is home of the rare White Western Grey Kangaroos. Crossing the mighty Murray River, king of Australia’s rivers, we wind our way through the picture-pretty Adelaide Hills before arriving into Adelaide city. (B)
