This 15 day overland 4WD camping safari is quite different from most tours in that you can start at Darwin and finish in Broome.This is a genuine 4WD experience. You’ll travel in a modern luxury 4WD vehicle the entire way and have an excellent guide and driver to show you the highlights of North West and Central Australia. You will have the time to explore the National Parks and landmarks that many people will probably never get the chance to see, and because you only travel in one direction, there is no back-tracking.

Day 1 Darwin to Ubirr & Cooinda (LD) (STL)

After a 6.30am pick up from the Palms City Resort in Darwin your adventure begins, heading towards the World Heritage Listed Kakadu National Park. Our first stop is at Ubirr Rock.

From this rocky plateau enjoy the spectacular view over the East Alligator River flood plains and Arnhemland and view one of the aboriginal rock art sites in this region.

After lunch we visit Nourlangie Rock, before we continue on to our campsite at Cooinda.

Day 2 Cooinda to Katherine Gorge (BLD) (STL)

This morning we embark on a sunrise cruise on the world renowned Yellow Waters Billabong with its abundance of birdlife, wildlife, and amazing vegetation, before travelling south to Katherine and Nitmiluk National Park.

This afternoon enjoy an unforgettable cruise on the renowned Katherine River Gorge. We camp at Katherine Gorge.

 Day 3 Katherine to Kununurra (BLD) (STL) 2 Nights

Heading west along the Victoria Highway, we pass the towering escarpments and rock formations that make this region unique. Crossing the Northern Territory border into Western Australia, we arrive at Kununurra.

Our campsite for the next 2 nights is located at Kimberleyland Tourist Park, on the banks of Lake Kununurra. Here you can relax and enjoy a sunset over the lake.

Day 4 Kununurra (BLD) (STL)

This morning enjoy a leisurely 3 hour cruise on the Ord River from Lake Kununurra to the Dam Wall of Lake Argyle. This cruise provides you with magnificent scenery, prolific bird life and varying fauna as you pass through a variety of different landscapes.

Upon conclusion of the cruise at the Dam Wall on Lake Argyle we return to Kununurra and stop off at the Durack Homestead Museum.

 Day 5 Kununurra to Bungle Bungle (BLD) (BcT) 2 Nights

Departing Kununurra we cross the Lake Kununurra Dam Wall and along the Great Northern Highway towards Purnululu National Park, better known as the Bungle Bungle.

We spend time here exploring one of Australia's greatest natural wonders visiting such areas as Piccaninny Creek, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm.

The regions vegetation contrasts from the unique Bungle Bungle Livistonia Palms to the tough eucalyptus and spinifex in the wide-open plains. This is a unique opportunity to experience one of Australia's most unspoilt and beautiful regions.

 Day 6 Bungle Bungle (BLD) (BcT)

Today you can take a helicopter flight (own expense) for a bird's eye view of the amazing area.We explore the unusual BeeHive Domes at Piccaninny Gorge, Cathedral Gorge and witness the setting sun lighting the red escarpment of the Bungle Bungle. This afternoon we explore the magnificent landscape of Echidna Chasm.

Day 7 Bungle Bungle to El Questro (BLD) (STL)

Leaving the Bungle Bungle, we retrace our steps along the Great Northern Highway.

Travelling along the Gibb River Road, we pass the spectacular Cockburn Ranges, before making our way to our camp at El Questro Wilderness Park on the Chamberlain River.

 

Day 8 El Questro to Home Valley (BLD) (STL)

Today is a dream start for our day in this world's unique holiday destination, enjoy a relaxing and revitalizing swim amongst Livingstonia Palms at Zebedee Thermal Springs.

We head west on the Gibb River Road, we travel along the spectacular Cockburn Ranges, cross the mighty Pentecost River before arriving at our camp for the night at Home Valley Station.

Making our way to our camp at El Questro Wilderness Park on the Chamberlain River.

 Day 9 Home Valley to King Edward River (BLD) (BcT)

This morning we travel north onto the Kalumburu Road before arriving at our camp tonight on the banks of King Edward River with its crystal clear water pools.

Day 10 King Edward River to Mitchell Plateau & Falls (BLD) (BcT)

We drive through unique forests of Livistonia Palms and landscapes into the remote Mitchell Plateau. We start our 4 km walk into the Mitchell Falls. Along the way we explore Little Merten and Big Merten Falls.

Time to explore Mitchell Falls before we take a scenic helicopter flight back to our camp site. (Those not wishing to walk have the option to take a return helicopter flight).

 Day 11 Mitchell Falls to Drysdale (BLD) (STL)

Today we retrace our steps to the Gibb River Road. We discover some amazing Aboriginal Rock art galleries along the way, before we make our way to Drysdale Station.

 Day 12 Drysdale to Bell Gorge (BLD) (ST)

This morning we travel on to Mt Barnett Station. We camp at Bell Gorge which is an ideal location to relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon, or enjoy a walk to the gorge.

 Day 13 Bell Gorge to Windjana Gorge (BLD) (ST)

As we push on along the Gibb River Road, we really learn the meaning of isolation. Sparsely scattered cattle stations being the only signs of civilization.

We stop off at Galvans Gorge, before arriving at the imposing Windjana Gorge, impressive and uniquely formed from ancient limestone reef. Take time to walk through this fascinating gorge. Camp tonight at Windjana Gorge.

Day 14 Windjana to Tunnel Creek, Geikie Gorge & Fitzroy Crossing (BLD) (STL)

Departing Windjana we make our way to Tunnel Creek, a fascinating 750m tunnel with permanent pools of water snaking its way through the Napier Range.

A short walk through the water enables us to examine exotic lime stone formations at close hand.

This afternoon, we head out to Geikie Gorge for a fascinating cruise of Geikie Gorge, down the Fitzroy River where the gorge has been cut through an ancient fossilized reef. Camp at Fitzroy River Lodge and campground.

Day 15 Fitzroy Crossing to Derby & Broome (BL)

This morning we depart Fitzroy Crossing and make our way to Derby, where we take a tour of the township, Boab Prison Tree, Myall's Bore and the 120 meter long Cattle Trough.

We stop off at the Derby Wharf for lunch, with its 11.5 meter tides, the second largest in the world. This afternoon we travel on the Great Northern Highway to Broome and we bid farewell to our new friends and the end of your Kimberley Adventure.

Booking Policy

Child Policy: Child = 11- 14 years. This tour is not recomended for children under 11 years of age.

A $400 deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 49 days prior to departure.

The name of your Holiday Accommodation and/ or a mobile telephone contact in case the tour director can’t find you. We also book accommodation at the best locally available rates so if we can help you with that, please let us know.

Cancellation Policy:
·45 – 30 days prior to travel, a 25% cancellation fee applies
·30 – 14 days prior to travel, a 50% cancellation fee applies
·Less than 14 days prior to travel, a 100% cancellation fee applies
A $100 per person administration fee applies to every cancellation greater than 45 days prior to the date of travel.
